LMB International PhD programme which offers 20-30 positions for graduate students from the UK and other nations, is now accepting applications for their 2024 programme. This opening will give a great opportunity for science enthusiasts a great research experience.

The LMB is still a thriving source of novel concepts, breakthroughs, and innovations, and it is considered one of the birthplaces of contemporary molecular biology. The LMB draws some of the top scientists in the world since it is a preeminent worldwide research centre. In addition to several other notable scientific honours, the scientists at the LMB have been awarded twelve Nobel Prizes to date.
The LMB supports unrestricted resource and idea sharing. Since all facilities and equipment are shared and communal, there are no financial or physical boundaries between groups, and students are encouraged to ask for professional guidance and assistance whenever and wherever they need it.

Admissions
PhD students at the LMB apply to join an individual research group, usually to do a defined project. The list of groups offering projects is updated every year. Applicants are reviewed by each group leader that they apply to and a selection of applicants are interviewed during the PhD recruitment days. Candidates eligible for the LMB international scholarships are additionally interviewed by the LMB scholarship panel.
Requirements
Students from various countries who are highly qualified are encouraged to apply to the LMB. There is fierce competition for admission to our postgraduate program. The essential requirements are:
- A degree in a relevant subject.
- Two outstanding academic references, preferably one from senior university staff at your most recent university and one from a senior scientist who has supervised your practical research.
- Fluency in the English language – if English is not your first language we require a recent language test equivalent to the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and scores equivalent to at least 7.0 overall with not less than 7.0 in speaking, listening and writing, and 6.5 in reading.
