When Amgen revealed plans to build in a cutting-edge biomanufacturing facility in Central Ohio in June 2021, it made its first foray into Ohio. With this investment, the corporation expanded into the Columbus Region, improving its manufacturing capabilities in the United States and generating 400 jobs at its opening.

Amgen has made about $5 billion in direct capital investments in the US since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was passed, adding about $12 billion in downstream production to the US economy.
Utilizing decades of operational experience and technical developments, the Ohio expansion expands the company’s global biomanufacturing network. The company recently announced that it will invest $1 billion to construct a second manufacturing plant in Holly Springs, North Carolina. Amgen is committed to creating the highest advanced biologics production capabilities globally with these investments made throughout the United States.
